Cuneiform Record Console
I love extinct furniture. Pieces like telephone tables and radiograms. Made for another era, to house technology that has since moved on.
The cabinet has built in cavities for speakers, housed behind screens made from willow rattan. The doors are textured ledge and brace doors made in prime English quarter sawn oak.
I opted to make the top from shop sawn veneer from the same tree, lipped with end grain veneers to maintain details and flow of grain. This ensures it will stay flat over the years and showcases the figured grain on both sides of the lid.
Stored around 150 records with room for speakers, amp and turntable.
Materials: English oak, Somerset willow
